The Herb Mullein
Words of Interest from Carol
Viruses are your friends: Dr. T

I decided to talk about Mullein
and its amazing healing properties. It is the season that mullein is in full
flower and it has a really pretty yellow striking flower which brightens the
road sides as you drive through the country roads. It is interesting to see it
grow along the road side and there is wisdom to this. Nature is full of
miracles and wisdom. Mullein is an air purifier so that’s why it is prevalent along
the road sides. It cleans the air from the car exhaust. Does that mean it is
then loaded with car exhaust? No! It simply has the ability to neutralize the poisons,
but it does not store the poisons. So what do you suppose that mullein can do
for your lungs. It can also absorb the poison from your lungs and neutralize
them. If you study the shape of the mullein you will find that its long stem with
the flowers on top looks like the shape of your lungs. Steven Horne taught a
lot about the signatures of herbs. The shape of the herb tells you its organ affinity.
If it looks like the lungs then it is nutrition for the lungs. I recall the year
2003 the year of the most destructive wild fires in BC. It was an extremely hot
summer and right in front of my office window was a mullein plant that grew
taller that reached the roof of my house. I had never seen such a tall mullein
before. Now Nature has its wisdom and this mullein was attracted to grow in my
yard at such a time when smoke from the fires would affect the air in my
environment. I know you are wondering how that mullein knew that there would be
fires on Kelowna that year. I have no answer to this question. I only know that
Nature has wisdom and if you are in touch with Nature you will also witness
such miracles.
I remember working with a lady who
was suffering with serious lung condition where her lungs were very congested. I
recommended Mullein in high doses. She noticed a huge difference in the loosening
up of her severe congestion. Dr Axe has some great information regarding Mullein
which I will share.
Research on the plant shows that
it contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, glycosides,
carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils.
It also contains approximately 3
percent mucilage, which is thought to be responsible for the soothing actions
that the herb has on the body’s mucous membranes. Mullein’s saponins are
believed to be the explanation for the herb’s expectorant actions.
